Artist Statement
My passion for art and the creative process has given me much joy over the years. Since moving to Hillsboro, Oregon, in 2004, I have had more opportunity to express my creative vision and explore new ideas.  I also have extra room to spread out my studio in my home.  There is hardly a place in my home without an element of my art in it!
I have always taken delight in being able to see details in objects and figure out how to convert a found object into a component of art.  A found "treasure" , be it an object or piece of fabric, sparks the creative process to construct a figure.  A good face that resonates with me has the same affect.  My soul wants to see expressions of fun, content, peace or pleasantry in my figurative sculpture, so that is what my hands make.
I like to explore new techniques, try them out for awhile and then move on to a new idea. I enjoy the softness and realism of nylon sculpture, the feel of clay, and the texture of felted wool.  I like to work with wood for pedestals and bases for my figures.  My latest work is my relief pictures in painted cloth and clay,  and the fabric mannequins with collected reprised treasures. I love my little people though and I hope the viewer likes them too.
I am very pleased to be exhibiting this year at Latimer Quilt and Textile Center in Tillamook, Oregon.  My show will begin on September 9th, 2008 through November 8th, with the open house reception on September 14th.
